No, you can’t deny women their basic rights and pretend it’s about your ‘religious freedom.’ If you don’t like birth control, don’t use it. Religious freedom doesn’t mean you can force others to live by your own beliefs.

I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.

How Jenn Angers People on Twitter...(Note I copied this word for word, spelling and all.)
| Christian!Girl: | Same sex marriage should be illegal. The bible clearly states marriage is between a man and a women. The farm animals know better. |
| Me: | Your beliefs should not cloud my rights. |
| C!G: | I'm sorry if you are offended. That's just my opinion. |
| Me: | No one's religion should stop someone's rights. It's against the Bible to get divorced, but that's still someone's right. No one's beliefs should not allow me to have my basic rights. I am a Christian, I know my Bible, but I know my rights. |
| C!G: | im just saying... Its not Gods will to have same-sex marriage. |
| Me: | Are you opposed to divorce as well? Shall we stone women who commit adultery? |
| C!G: | I think divorce is wrong and adultery is wrong as well. |
| Me: | but should women be stoned to death, as in the Bible, for their wrongdoings? Should divorce be illegal? |
| C!G: | women should not be stoned to death because of their wrong doings bc Jesus died on the cross for all of that. |
| Me: | Should divorce be illegal? Should someone's religious beliefs stand in the way of someone else getting a divorce by the law? |
| C!G: | I'm not saying divorce should be illegal...But it should be less frequent. |
| Me: | If divorce, then, doesn't need to be illegal, then why should gay marriage. Both are against the Bible, as you say. So how can you "support" the legality of one but not the other? |
| C!G: | because. It is my opinion and if God wanted there to be gay marriage, he would have told us it in the bible. But he didn't. |
| Me: | As @Seth_Rogen said, "Claiming that someone else's marriage is against your religion is like being angry at someone for eating a donut because you're on a diet." |

| Republicans: | And let's make it harder for the poor, the elderly and minorities to vote |
| Republicans: | And let's make it so that the police can stop brown people randomly to ask for their papers |
| Republicans: | Because we believe in freedom |
